LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized and utilized certification and benchmark program for design, construction and operation of green buildings. The Green Building Rating System was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in 1998 to promote sustainable building design during renovation, construction or the demolition of buildings.
